Silicone is the first choice of heat-resistant coating for cooking

Coated aluminum pan is the most basic kitchen utensils, with the characteristics of light weight and low production cost. In addition, compared with the expensive cast iron or stainless steel pan, the aluminum pan uses less oil, and uses it to make fish, omelets and pancakes with much lower fat, which also meets the needs of modern consumers who pay attention to healthy diet.

But for a long time, aluminum pan has a fatal weakness: poor heat resistance. Because of this, picky chefs are more willing to choose other metal pans when making dishes that need high-temperature cooking, such as fried steak.

However, in this respect, the aluminum pan is also constantly improving: the inner surface is usually coated with polytetrafluoroethylene, which is known as Teflon, and the outer surface is coated with silicone polyester resin.

The aluminum pan with silicone polyester resin coating can withstand cooking temperature of 250 ° C for a long time and even 300 ° C for a short time.

In contrast, the heat resistance of traditional surface coating resin based on pure organic polymer is not very high, but if the polyester resin modified by silicone is used, the heat resistance of the coating will be significantly enhanced.

In the baking process, after the moisture in the coating evaporates, the coating can be heated continuously at 250 ° C to 280 ° C for about 10-15 minutes to complete the crosslinking reaction. Silicon resin is used as the base material to wrap the solid particles, pigments and fillers in the coating, so as to make them firmly bond with each other and with the base material, so as to form a solid coating to protect the product from external influences.

Silicone coating without components has more excellent heat resistance: if pigments and fillers are added, this kind of coating can withstand high temperature above 650 ° C for a short time. If the silicone resin without organic modification is used, the heat resistance of the coating will be incomparable, and the coating can be used for engine parts. However, the use environment of cooking utensils and other household products is far less harsh than that of the engine, so there is no need to use pure silicone at all, and the cost of pure silicone is also higher, which will not become the preferred base material for cooking utensil coating. Silicone resin can not only maintain excellent substrate adhesion, but also help to adjust the coating performance to meet the needs of specific applications as much as possible, while ensuring high cost performance.
