The length of wind turbine blade can reach 60m, The lightning protection of blades has been reported in many literatures, but on the other hand, because the manufacturing materials of wind turbine blades, such as epoxy resin glass fiber reinforced plastics, are difficult to keep intact after being attacked by dust, ultraviolet and rainstorm all the year round, it is necessary to apply protective coating on the blade surface to improve the service life of blades and reduce or even realize zero maintenance of blades for more than 20 years.

This paper mainly introduces several kinds of polymer resins used as protective coating materials for wind turbine blades, such as polyurethane, fluororesin, acrylic resin, etc., and prospects their research direction and development.
