The production of synthetic rubber is not limited by geographical conditions. From the traditional point of view, it is divided into two categories: general synthetic rubber and special synthetic rubber according to the performance, scope and quantity of synthetic rubber. After vulcanization, it can be made into various rubber products. According to the chemical structure, it can be divided into olefins, diolefins and elemental organics.

There are many ways to classify synthetic rubber.

By finished product status:

It can be divided into liquid rubber (such as hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene), solid rubber, latex and powder rubber.

According to the forming process:

It can be divided into thermoplastic rubber (such as tri-block thermoplastic styrene-butadiene rubber that can be repeatedly processed), and vulcanized rubber (the finished product needs to be vulcanized, and most synthetic rubbers belong to this category). Other non-rubber components filled by raw rubber: can be divided into oil-filled masterbatch, carbon black-filled masterbatch and lignin-filled masterbatch.

According to the characteristics of use:

Divided into general-purpose rubber and special rubber two categories. General-purpose rubber refers to rubber that can partially or completely replace natural rubber, such as styrene-butadiene rubber, isoprene rubber, butadiene rubber, etc. It is mainly used in the manufacture of various tires and general industrial rubber products. General-purpose rubber is in great demand and is the main variety of synthetic rubber.

Special rubber refers to the rubber with the characteristics of high temperature resistance, oil resistance, ozone resistance, aging resistance and high air tightness. Ester rubber, polyurethane rubber and butyl rubber, etc., are mainly used in special occasions requiring certain characteristics. Important varieties are styrene-butadiene rubber, nitrile-butadiene rubber, butyl rubber, neoprene rubber, polysulfide rubber, polyurethane rubber, polyacrylate rubber, chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber, silicone rubber, fluorine rubber, butadiene rubber, isobutylene Amyl rubber and ethylene propylene rubber, etc.
