Sol gel method   

Sol gel method is a method of preparing coatings by chemical solution, which can control the composition, molding and microstructure of materials. The cermet prepared by this method has the advantages of simple equipment, controllable material micro and macro structure, etc. Adding ceramic aggregate to the sol and combining with heat-resistant adhesive to prepare ceramic coating can reduce the volume fraction of solvent and reduce the cracking tendency of the film after gel drying and curing. The hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high-temperature oxidation resistance of the new ceramic coating prepared by the sol gel method have been mostly confirmed by researchers.

In recent years, through research and verification, alumina ceramic coating, zirconia ceramic coating, silicon oxide ceramic coating, titanium oxide ceramic coating and two-component ceramic coating can be prepared on different metal surfaces by sol-gel method. Liu Fu et al. [7] used the sol gel method to prepare Al2O3 coating on 304 stainless steel surface with aluminum isopropoxide as the precursor. The experiment proved that the Al2O3 ceramic coating prepared has excellent corrosion resistance. At present, although it has been proven that the ceramic coating prepared by this method has excellent performance, its theoretical system is not perfect enough and further research is still needed.
