5. Poly-p-xylene (XY)


Poly (p-xylene) is the only coating that does not use traditional spray, brush or dip coating methods. It is coated by chemical vapor deposition process and special equipment. Prior to entering the coating chamber, the original polymer dimer material is heated and evaporated into a monomer. It is then deposited on the product surface as a polymer at the molecular level. This allows very thin coatings (0.5 um to 1 mil), but at a thickness of 2-7 mil, the protective properties of other coatings can still be maintained greater than or equal to.

Poly (p-xylene) is actually a great coating because it can provide a wide range of applications. Its adhesion on a variety of different substrates (including metal, silicone, rubber, fabric, circuit card, etc.) makes it truly unique. Poly (p-xylene) has some of the best protective properties in the listed other conformal coatings, as well as in very thin coatings. Poly-p-xylene is also certified as VI grade, so it is very suitable for numerous medical applications. Of all the coatings we provide, Perrin is the most recommended one. Its track record in the electronics, healthcare, automotive and aerospace industries has been well proven. When there is a problem, Perrin is almost always the first layer of paint I am looking for a solution.


All coatings provide some type of protection, but choosing the right coating to best protect the part in the environment in which they are to be placed is a problem. Before choosing conformal coatings, consider all of the factors listed above, as choosing the right material is critical to the life of the part.
