The principle of silicone oil emulsions is based on emulsification technology, whereby silicone oil is combined with an appropriate emulsifier to make it soluble in water and form an emulsion. It is formed by emulsion polymerization of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane monomer, water, emulsifier, catalyst and other raw materials under certain conditions. Since the polymerization and emulsification are completed in one step, it has the advantages of short working time, high efficiency, simple equipment, easy operation and so on. The following are the principle steps of silicone oil emulsion:
1. Selection of emulsifier: Selection of suitable emulsifier is the key step. Common emulsifiers include surfactants, surfactants or colloidal substances, which have hydrophilic and hydrophobic parts that can reduce the surface tension between liquids and facilitate the emulsification process.
2. Preparation of emulsion: Mix the silicone oil and emulsifier according to a certain proportion, and emulsify by mechanical stirring or ultrasonic treatment, etc., so that the silicone oil is finely dispersed in the aqueous phase to form an emulsion.
3. Stabilize the emulsion: the role of the emulsifier is to reduce the surface tension between the liquids to avoid the aggregation and separation of droplets. The concentration of emulsifier and emulsification time should be controlled during the emulsification process to obtain stable emulsion.
4. Application emulsions: stable silicone oil emulsions can be directly applied to areas where lubrication, anti-adhesion, anti-corrosion and other effects are required. According to the specific needs, different emulsion formulations and concentrations can be selected.
