Emulsion stability, the dosage limit determines the effect of silane modification is limited, or even not obvious. Furthermore, the hydrolysis reaction of silane coupling agent occurs in the aqueous phase, the by-production of methanol, ethanol and other low molecular alcohols, which are flammable and toxic components, for water-based coatings, it is VOC, and VOC is a strictly controlled indicator of water-based coatings, so silane coupling agent modified water-based coatings can not be a fundamental solution to the problem of low VOC and zero VOC, which will ultimately lead to the limitation of the application.
