1. Application in the field of cosmetics
The application of silicone oil in the field of cosmetics started in the 1950s in the United States, in the 1960s in Japan, and in the 1970s in my country, but it has developed and popularized very rapidly in the past ten years. Hair shampoo, care products, skin care products, and make-up products are all commonly used. Among them, the most widely used and most widely used is methyl silicone oil. The use of methyl silicone oil in cosmetics has the following characteristics:

1) It is odorless and colorless, and does not affect the appearance and aroma of the final product;

2) Have a very good sense of lightness and stretch;

3) Good hydrophobicity and smoothness;

4) No irritation to the skin and high safety to the human body;

5) It has good gas permeability and does not hinder skin breathing;

6) Chemical stability, no reaction with other cosmetic raw materials.

For example, the use of medium-viscosity methyl silicone oil in various skin care products can improve the stretchability of cosmetics on the skin and protect the skin. Adding methyl silicone oil to face or lipstick can improve the dispersion of pigments, improve stretch and feel. Methyl silicone oil is added to the mousse to improve combability. Adding a small amount of methyl silicone oil to the shaving cream can lubricate the skin and the blade.

The silicone oil used in cosmetics should be different from the industrial grade in terms of quality and grade, and must be selected carefully.

2. Application in medical and food fields
Dimethicone is non-toxic to the human body and is not decomposed by body fluids, so it is widely used in medical and health services. For medical methyl silicone oil (100~1000mPa•s), there are special standards in the United States and Japan, and my country has also been listed in the Pharmacopoeia. It is mainly used as an additive for external medicine and a component of gastrointestinal medicine, and has been practically used, but silicone oil cannot be used in the blood system. Utilizing its defoaming effect, the oral gastrointestinal defoaming tablet and the pulmonary edema defoaming aerosol have been prepared for medicinal purposes. Adding silicone oil to the ointment can improve the penetration ability of the drug into the skin and improve the efficacy of the drug. Some ointments based on silicone oil have good curative effects on scalds, dermatitis, bedsores, etc. Using the anticoagulant effect of silicone oil, it can be used to treat the surface of the blood reservoir and prolong the storage time of blood samples.

Methyl silicone oil is used in food production process. Some countries have stipulated in the food law that the dryness range of methyl silicone oil used is 300~600mPa•s, and there are special grades. It is mainly used for defoaming, demoulding in food manufacturing and anti-sticking treatment in food packaging.

3. As a defoamer
Due to its low surface tension and insoluble in water, animal and vegetable oils and high-boiling mineral oils, dimethyl silicone oil has good chemical stability and is non-toxic. As a defoaming agent, it has been widely used in petroleum, chemical, medical, pharmaceutical, food In the processing, textile, printing and dyeing, papermaking and other industries, as long as 10×10-6~100×10-6 silicone oil is added, it has a good defoaming effect.

4. Mold release, anti-sticking, smoothing agent
As a release agent, anti-sticking agent and smoothing agent, methyl silicone oil has been widely used in many aspects such as rubber products and plastic products processing, metal casting, glass product processing, paper and paper product processing, fiber production technology and processing. Long application history. Its application range and dosage are still expanding. The commonly used viscosity (25℃) grade is 0.1~100Pa·s, high viscosity mold release, anti-sticking, smoothness; low viscosity coating and good surface affinity, generally choose to have both performances 0.1~30Pa·s methyl silicone oil. In addition to being used directly, it can also be formulated into solution type, emulsion type, aerosol type, and grease type.

Methyl silicone oil is widely used in oil for fiber raw silk and raw cotton, oil for spinning, and smoothing agent for sewing thread. The oil used for raw silk and raw cotton is low-viscosity methyl silicone oil. The smoothing agent for sewing thread is a medium to high viscosity methyl silicone oil. Using the thermal stability and low viscosity-temperature coefficient of methyl silicone oil, a spinning oil made of antistatic agent, emulsifier and other oils is used in the spinning process of nylon and polyester to prevent spinning During the process, when the extremely thin monofilament bundle is ejected from the spinneret and when it is rapidly wound up, wire breakage and loosening caused by electrification occur. When melting and preventing the wire, the nozzle should also be treated with methyl silicone oil to prevent the wire from being broken due to the adhesion of carbide or melt.

5. As electrical insulating oil
Methyl silicone oil has very good electrical insulation, heat resistance, temperature stability, cooling ability and permeability, and has good compatibility with other insulating materials, so it is widely used in vehicle transformers, power transformers, other The insulating oil for special-purpose transformers, capacitors, cables, etc., can reduce the volume, increase power, and improve life and reliability of these electromechanical equipment. In this regard, methyl silicone oil with a viscosity (25°C) of 10-1000mPa·s is mainly used.

6. Oil for shock absorption and damping
Methyl silicone oil has viscosity-temperature properties, wide viscosity range, thermal stability, and high compressibility, and is widely used as shock absorption and damping oil in machine manufacturing, instrumentation, and instrumentation industries.

7. Additives for coatings, plastics and other materials
With the unique surface properties of methyl silicone oil, adding a very small amount to coatings and inks can prevent uneven color, improve stretchability, make the surface of the coating film uniform, increase brightness and smoothness. High viscosity methyl silicone oil can also be used as a defoamer for coatings. However, when the method of use and dosage are improper, the opposite effect will be produced. The compatibility of silicone oil-added coatings with other coatings is not good, so they should not be mixed with each other. The amount of silicone oil added is generally controlled between 0.01% and 0.5%.

Incorporating methyl silicone oil into thermoplastic resins can impart new properties to plastics. Improve the release properties of plastics (internal release agent) and the dispersion of inorganic fillers in resins, improve the fluidity of resins and the surface lubricity and wear resistance of products. POM, PA, HIPS, ABS and other resins added with methyl silicone oil have been widely used to make wear-resistant and lubricated plastic parts, such as gears of OA equipment.

Dimethicone oil can be used as an additive for many other materials, such as a gloss enhancer for paint. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to the paint can make the paint not float and wrinkle to improve the brightness of the paint film. Add a small amount of silicone oil to the ink. , can improve the printing quality, add a small amount of silicone oil to the polishing oil (such as car varnish), can increase the brightness, protect the paint film, and have excellent waterproof effect.
