Thermally induced interface coupling behavior of thermally sprayed Cu ceramic coating

Metal / ceramic composite materials are widely used. APS is widely used in the preparation of metal / ceramic composite materials because of its super high flame temperature and high deposition efficiency. The metal / ceramic interface is the weakest area in the material. The initial failure of the coating is easy to occur at the interface. The adhesion of the interface determines the mechanical properties and service life of the material. This study proposes a new method to improve the adhesion of metal / ceramic interface, which is expected to expand the application field of metal / ceramic coating.

In July 2018, Li qiaolei (the first author) and song Peng (the corresponding author) of the advanced coating materials research group of Kunming University of science and technology published the latest research results "heat induced interface combining behavior of thermally spreaded Cu / ceramic coatings" on ceramics international. In this work, the effect of heat treatment on the interface composition and structure of thermal sprayed ceramic (Al2O3-40 wt% TiO2) and Cu bonding layer was studied. Based on the experimental results, a new phenomenon of interface coupling behavior of Cu / ceramic after heat treatment was observed, and the formation mechanism of interface coupling layer was described.
