As a very popular product, polysilazane is favored by researchers in many industries. A series of applications of polysilazane in coatings will be listed below.    

Example 1: Ceramic coating
Silicon carbide, trisilicon tetrazide or their mixtures are dispersed in a solution composed of polysilazane and aromatic solvents to make a coating. This coating can provide a protective ceramic coating for carbon/carbon composites, graphite and other materials containing carbon. The coated sample was heated to 850℃ for 5~10 min. The effectiveness of the ceramic coating in protecting the graphite surface from thermal degradation can be verified by the following tests: The coated sample was heated in air to 600℃ for 1 h, and the number of dents on its surface was calculated. The average number of dents per square inch of the three coated samples was only 8-86, but the average number of dents per square inch of the uncoated graphite sample was 590 to 630.
 
Example 2: Antirust paint
The deep-drawn steel plate was impregnated in 20% solution of total hydropolysilazane (molecular weight: 150-150 000) for coating. The deep-drawn steel plate was deeply blanked in air at a rate of 0.3 m/min and dried at room temperature for about 30 min. Then the painted steel plate was placed in an air furnace at 700℃ for 10 h. Its heating and cooling rate is 3℃ /min. The test results show that the coated steel plate has no oxidation layer or corrosion.
Example 3: Car body and hub paint
The coating uses total hydrosilazane or organic silazane with a relative molecular weight of 150~150 000. The coating formula is 35%~40% polysilazane, 0.5%~1% polyacrylate and less than 2.0% flow control additives, solvent using butyl acetate. It is sprayed on aluminum parts by spray gun, and its topcoat is acrylic powder coating or solvent based or water-based varnish. The aluminum was baked at 170℃ for 20 min. The thickness of the coating is 5 μm and the surface roughness is 0.09 μm.
Brake dust test: suspension of brake dust in water, and then coated on the sample, the sample is stored at 160℃ for 2 h, and then washed with water, gently wipe, and then evaluated, its evaluation value is level 1. Thus, it can be seen that the coating can prevent brake powder "stain", scratch resistance and corrosion resistance are good, and its water contact Angle is 108°.
 
Example 4: Paint for metal strip
The polysilazanes used are organosilazanes and perhydrosilazanes, and their number relative molecular weight ranges from 150 000 to 150 000. The coating prepared by it can be used for aluminum and zinc and other metal strip materials, the coating has good acid resistance, alkali resistance, solvent resistance, acid rain resistance, bird stain resistance and weather resistance. For example, the thickness of 0.5mm aluminum plate is immersed in 20% concentration of all-hydrogen polysilazane solution, and then exit at a speed of 120 cm/min, and then preheated to 250℃ in a forced air drying furnace, and kept at this temperature for 60 s, after cooling, the formation of a clear, transparent coating without cracking. The coating will first carry out scratch resistance test, that is, 00 class steel wool with 3 N force on the coating wipe back and forth 5 times, the coating wipe resistance is very good. According to ISO 6270.4 -- 2005 condensed water alternating atmospheric test, after 25 cycles of exposure test, the coating has no white rust, its adhesion (DIN EN ISO 2409 -- 2013) is 0.
 
Example 5: Make hydrophilic paint
An impregnation device with a stepper motor speed of 20 cm/min was used to immerse a polycarbonate plate (10 cm×10 cm) into a n-dibutyl ether solution with a concentration of 20% perhydropolysilazane. After staying for 10 s, the plate was withdrawn from the solution at a speed of 20 cm/min and allowed to drip briefly. Then exposed in the air for 10 min, then immersed in the BIke COMPANY LPN-6640 additives (10% concentration) aqueous solution (the original solution is 40% concentration, diluted by 3∶1 water), placed in the aqueous solution for 24 h, then cleaned with water, determination of the coating and water contact Angle is less than 10°; The same method can also be used to make stainless steel hydrophilic coating, its water contact Angle is also below 10°.
