Ceramic coating preparation technology 1

At present, the commonly used ceramic coating preparation technologies mainly include laser cladding technology, self propagating technology, thermal spraying technology, sol gel method, vapor deposition and other methods.

Laser cladding technology   

Laser cladding technology is a technology that uses laser as a heat source to melt the coating material and substrate surface simultaneously to produce a new surface coating (see Figure 1). This technology can melt ceramic materials to overcome their difficult processing characteristics, greatly improving the service life, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, compression resistance and other performance indicators of the matrix. It can prepare high-quality ceramic coatings, so many experts and scholars are committed to the research of this technology.

In the 1970s, researchers used laser as a heat source to melt ceramic powders and prepare ceramic coatings, and conducted detailed analysis and research on their performance parameters. Zhao Guanlin used an in-situ reaction method to place a pre fabricated mixture of titanium iron, vanadium iron, and graphite on the surface of the steel substrate, and used a laser as a heat source to generate a TiC-VC enhanced cladding layer. Wu Xiaolei [4] used laser cladding technology to prepare TiC cladding layers. Experimental data showed that the microhardness and wear resistance of the coating were significantly improved. After years of research, development, and continuous improvement, this technology is gradually becoming a comprehensive high-tech industry. With the development of lasers, robots, and automatic control technology, laser cladding technology will move towards high-power and automation. In the future, laser cladding technology will have great application prospects in anti-corrosion engineering, which can be used to prepare pure ceramic coatings, metal based ceramic composite coatings, bioceramic coatings, and reactive self generated ceramic coatings.
