In the aerospace industry, thermal barrier coatings can effectively solve the erosion and insulation problems of aircraft engines in harsh environments such as high temperature, oxidation, and high-speed airflow erosion; In the automotive industry, thermal barrier ceramic coatings applied to the combustion chamber walls, pistons, exhaust ports, and other hot ends of automotive engines can effectively improve the high-temperature erosion resistance and insulation performance of these components. Coating wear-resistant ceramic coatings on transmission components such as piston rings, camshafts, and crankshafts can reduce the reciprocating sliding wear of these components.

At present, rare earth doped thermal barrier coatings are a popular research direction. The new rare earth ceramic thermal barrier coating material jointly developed by Inner Mongolia Jingtao Zirconium Industry Co., Ltd., Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University has achieved industrialization. After rare earth modification, this project has excellent properties such as corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and impact resistance, and can withstand high temperatures of 1300~1400 ℃. It will solve the engineering application problem of preparing thermal barrier coatings for turbine blades in China and promote the engineering application of high-performance thermal barrier coatings in China.
