However, they will rapidly oxidize in high-temperature aerobic environments above 673K, seriously restricting their application. Functional coating technology is the most effective method for high-temperature protection of C/C composite materials. This article provides an overview of the latest developments in ceramic functional coating systems and points out the problems in the research of ceramic functional coatings for C/C composites. Finally, suggestions were put forward for further research on functional coating technology.

However, C/C composites are highly susceptible to oxidation in aerobic environments exceeding 673K, leading to a rapid decline in mechanical properties and greatly limiting their widespread application in aerospace and other fields.

In recent years, with the development of aerospace technology, the service environment of C/C composite materials has become increasingly harsh. They not only need to withstand various loads, but also need to withstand the erosion and erosion of high-speed particle gas flow. Therefore, it is crucial to effectively solve the high-temperature protection problem of C/C composite materials. At present, functional coating is the most direct and effective method for high-temperature protection of C/C composite materials, and it is also one of the most widely used and mature high-temperature protection technologies.

At present, the developed functional coating systems for C/C composite materials mainly include glass coating, metal coating, composite coating, and ceramic coating, among which ceramic coating is the most extensively studied coating system. This article reviews the latest research progress of ceramic functional coating technology for C/C composite materials, points out the existing problems in the research of ceramic functional coatings, and looks forward to the future research focus in this field.
