In aerospace, industrial heavy-duty anti-corrosion, and specialty composites, the limits of surface protection are constantly being redefined. Traditional high-temperature coatings often compromise between application convenience, substrate versatility, and thermal resistance, but IOTA 9118 shatters this dilemma. It is a liquid polysilazane featuring vinyl as the active functional group, specifically engineered for high-performance, high-temperature coating systems, combining excellent processability, outstanding adhesion, and ceramic-grade heat resistance.
Core Performance, Proven by Data
IOTA 9118 is a pale yellow transparent liquid with viscosity of only 10-40cp, offering excellent flow for spraying, brushing, dipping, or spreading on a wide range of substrates including metals, alloys, glass, engineering plastics (PP/PC/PVC/PMMA), and existing paint films. Purity exceeds 99%, molecular weight is 1200-1400, density is 0.98-0.99 g/cm³, ensuring consistent quality. The cured coating achieves pencil hardness of 6-7H and water contact angle of 100-105°, combining robust hardness with self-cleaning properties. Visible light transmittance exceeds 95%, fully transparent without compromising substrate appearance. Cross-cut metal adhesion is Class 0 for rock-solid bonding; linear shrinkage is below 1%, and the resin cracking threshold exceeds 100µm, enabling thick-film applications.
Ceramizable Potential, Serene at High Temperatures
As a ceramizable precursor, IOTA 9118 achieves a ceramic yield of 50-60% at 800°C, with cured product ceramic conversion of 60-70% and ceramic density of 1.60-2.00 g/cm³. Clearcoat recommended service temperature is below 800°C; with a pigmented topcoat, it withstands up to 1600°C, offering long-term resistance to oxidation and thermal shock. The cured coating is non-combustible and intrinsically safe; its dense cross-linked network provides excellent oxidation and chemical corrosion resistance, with good chemical barrier properties effectively blocking O₂, H₂O, and other gases.
Versatile Curing, Broad Applications
IOTA 9118 supports thermal curing (above 250°C, with optional peroxide crosslinkers), platinum-catalyzed hydrosilylation (80-100°C), and UV curing (with cleavable photoinitiators), adapting perfectly to diverse production conditions and substrate temperature limits. From high-temperature coatings, adhesives, and non-flammable composites, to polymer matrix composites, glass and abrasives, and low-surface-tension easy-clean applications, IOTA 9118 covers a broad application landscape with comprehensive performance.
Choose IOTA 9118 and eliminate the trade-off between thermal resistance and application convenience. Engineered for extreme environments, empowering complex substrates.
