Application case of ultra-thin and high-temperature resistant insulation coating in ladle furnace

Effectively insulating the ladle and significantly increasing the temperature of the molten steel not only ensures the smooth progress of continuous casting, but also reduces the tapping temperature of the converter or the heating of the LF furnace, which is beneficial for extending the service life of refractory materials.   
A study in an AOD furnace workshop in the United States found that the lifespan of refractory materials is a function of the highest temperature during steelmaking and blowing. When refractory materials are kept above 1700 ℃ for too long, the lifespan of the furnace will be significantly reduced. If the highest temperature is increased by 10 ℃, the lifespan of refractory materials will be reduced by 30%.   
The refractory lining of a 100 ton ladle in a certain steel plant's second steelmaking plant is relatively thin. Although there are insulation measures for the ladle cover, the temperature drop of the molten steel is still relatively large. A domestically produced 30mm high aluminum fiber insulation board has been tested on the sidewall of a ladle, but due to the significant shrinkage of the insulation board, it seriously affects the permanent lining life of the ladle.  
According to the introduction of the Iron and Steel Research Institute, the steel plant has conducted technical docking with Beijing Zhisheng Weihua Company and started using ZS-1 ultra-thin high-temperature insulation coating for insulation tests. After one year of trial use, although the insulation coating is only 8 millimeters thick, it has achieved very ideal insulation effects.   
The advantage of insulation coating is that ultra-thin insulation does not occupy the space of refractory lining, the loading capacity of molten steel remains unchanged, the temperature drop rate of molten steel is significantly reduced, the temperature of molten steel is significantly increased, and the strength and service life of permanent lining are basically not affected.
