How to distinguish between silicone resin and silicone?

Organic silicone resin to Si-O-Si main chain, silicon atoms linked to organic groups, with a high degree of crosslinking of semi-inorganic polymers, it is made of multi-functional organic silane by hydrolysis of silicone resin prepolymers, prepolymers in the heating or catalyst catalyst catalyzed by the further crosslinking of three-dimensional mesh structure of insoluble, non-molten solid silicone resin. It can be a monomer homopolymer, or a variety of monomer copolymer.
Silicone resin has the characteristics of silicone resin and inorganic materials, both excellent heat resistance, electrical insulation, hydrophobicity, weather resistance and resistance to chemical reagents and other properties, in many industries have a wide range of uses, especially in the aerospace, construction, national defense and other fields and sectors.
Silicone resins are categorized in various ways. If the composition of the main chain, can be divided into pure silicone resin and modified silicone resin two, the former for the typical structure of polysiloxane, according to the organic substituents connected to the type of silicone atom can be subdivided into methyl silicone resin, phenyl silicone resin and methyl phenyl silicone resin, etc.; modified silicone resin is a hybrid of organic resins thermosetting polysiloxanes, or the use of other silicone and carbon-functional silane-modified polysiloxanes.
1、Silicone
Organosilicon, i.e., silicone compounds, refers to the compounds containing Si-C bond, and at least one organic group is directly connected to the silicon atom, and customarily also often through the oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, etc., so that the organic group is connected to the silicon atom compounds are also regarded as organosilicon compounds. Among them, the silicone oxygen bond (-Si-0-Si-) for the skeleton composed of polysiloxane, is the most numerous silicone compounds, the most in-depth research, the most widely used class, accounting for more than 90% of the total dosage.
Organosilicon materials have a unique structure:
(1) Sufficient methyl groups on Si atoms shield the high-energy polysiloxane main chain;
(2) C-H non-polar, so that the intermolecular interaction force is very weak;
(3) The Si-O bond length is long and the Si-O-Si bond angle is large.
(4) Si-O bond is a covalent bond with 50% of the characteristics of ionic bonds (covalent bonds have directionality, ionic bonds are not directional).
2、Silicone Resin
Organic silicone resin is a highly cross-linked network structure of polyorganosiloxane, usually with methyl trichlorosilane, dimethyl dichlorosilane, phenyl trichlorosilane, diphenyl dichlorosilane or methyl phenyl dichlorosilane of various mixtures, in the presence of organic solvents, such as toluene, at lower temperatures and water decomposition, to get acid hydrolysate. The initial product of hydrolysis is a mixture of cyclic, linear and cross-linked polymers, usually also containing a considerable number of hydroxyl groups. The hydrolysate is washed with water to remove the acid, and the neutral primary condensate is thermally oxidized in air or further condensed in the presence of a catalyst to finally form a highly crosslinked, three-dimensional network structure.
