Is the inorganic polysilazane coating hydrophilic

Hits: 176 img

Inorganic polysilazane coatings themselves usually have hydrophobicity, but can become hydrophilic coatings after certain specific treatments.
Inherent hydrophobicity: In the molecular structure of inorganic polysilazane coatings, the properties of silicon nitrogen bonds and some organic substituents result in lower surface energy and larger contact angles with water, exhibiting hydrophobicity. For example, unmodified polysilazane coatings typically have a water contact angle of over 90 ° and exhibit good hydrophobic properties, allowing water to form droplets on the coating surface that are not easily spread.
Hydrophilicity can be achieved through processing: by utilizing the active Si-N and/or Si-H groups in organic-inorganic hybrid coatings formed by polysilazane or SiON coatings, and reacting with active functional groups such as hydroxyl and carboxyl groups, hydrophilic molecules can be grafted onto the surface of the transition layer to form hydrophilic coatings. In addition, in the process of forming nano hydrophilic superhard and stain resistant coating materials such as fully hydrogenated polysilazane, Si-N bonds are converted into Si-O bonds, which can make it highly hydrophilic with a water contact angle of less than 10 degrees
