Recently, an organic polysilazane material named IOTA 9118 has garnered significant attention in the coating industry. Known as a ceramizable precursor polymer, it stands out as a new star in high-temperature coating systems due to its unique properties and broad application prospects.
IOTA 9118 is a liquid polysilazane containing silicon-nitrogen structures and primarily vinyl functional groups, specifically designed for high-temperature coating systems. With low viscosity and excellent adhesion, it can be applied to various substrates, including metals, alloys, glass, paint films, and plastics (such as PP, PC, PVC, PMMA) through coating, dip coating, spray coating, and brush coating methods.
In terms of product characteristics, IOTA 9118 coatings are heat-resistant, cure in diverse ways, and are non-flammable after curing. They also exhibit excellent oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and ease of cleaning, with outstanding adhesion to metals, ceramics, and other materials, providing reliable solutions for high-temperature applications.
In applications, IOTA 9118 is widely used in coatings, adhesives, non-combustible composites, polymer-based composites, glass and grinding tool fields, as well as areas requiring low surface tension and easy cleaning.
Technically, IOTA 9118 presents as a light yellow transparent liquid with a molecular weight between 1200-1400, a purity exceeding 99%, and moderate viscosity. Its ceramic density, cured hardness, coating hydrophobicity angle, and other properties all perform excellently.
Regarding curing methods, IOTA 9118 supports both thermal curing and UV curing, with flexible curing times. Additionally, it has good compatibility with various non-polar solvents and resins, shortening curing times and increasing resin hardness when mixed.
Regarding shelf life, unopened IOTA 9118 has a shelf life of one year. Necessary protective measures and a dry, cool, and ventilated environment are required during usage.
