Specific usage method of polysilazane in building protection

Hits: 95 img

Polysilazane (taking fully hydrogenated polysilazane IOTA PHPS as an example) is used in building protection. The specific usage methods and the differences in results caused by different methods are as follows:
usage
Preparation before construction
Surface cleaning: Firstly, the surface of the building should be thoroughly cleaned to remove dust, oil stains, loose old coatings, and other impurities. High pressure water gun flushing, brush cleaning, and cleaning agent wiping can be used to ensure a clean, dry, and smooth surface, which can guarantee good adhesion of the coating in the future.
Material preparation: Prepare an appropriate amount of polysilazane coating (IOTA PHPS is usually diluted and stored in a solvent such as n-butyl ether) according to the construction area and requirements, and check the condition of the coating to ensure that it has not expired, has no precipitation, and is stirred evenly. At the same time, prepare corresponding construction tools such as spray guns (for spraying construction), brushes (for wiping), rollers (for immersion or rolling coating), etc., and ensure that the tools are clean and free of foreign objects.
Construction operation
Spray coating construction:
Pour the polysilazane coating into a professional spray gun container, and adjust the pressure of the spray gun, nozzle size and other parameters. Generally, the pressure of the spray gun can be set at a suitable range according to the viscosity of the coating and other factors, such as about 2-4 bar. The nozzle size can be selected from 0.8-1.5mm, depending on the construction area and desired coating effect.
During construction, the spray gun should be kept at an appropriate distance from the surface of the building, usually around 20-30 centimeters. The spray gun should be moved at a uniform and stable speed to evenly spray the paint in a mist on the surface of the building, avoiding situations such as sagging (paint accumulation and flow) and missed spraying. Spraying can be done multiple times, with a certain time interval between each coat (such as 15-30 minutes, adjusted according to environmental factors such as temperature and humidity), allowing the previous coat of paint to dry properly before proceeding to the next coat. Generally, 2-3 coats are needed to achieve the appropriate coating thickness.
Rubbing construction:
Dip a clean brush into an appropriate amount of polysilazane coating. The amount of coating should not be too much to avoid dripping.
Apply the paint evenly on the surface in a certain order, starting from the top of the building, from top to bottom, and from left to right. Carefully apply the paint to the corners, gaps, and other areas to ensure full coverage. At the same time, pay attention to the moderate application force to prevent the appearance from being affected by too deep brush marks. Rubbing can also be done multiple times to ensure the integrity and uniformity of the coating.
Immersion coating construction:
This method is more suitable for small building components or parts with regular shapes that are easy to soak. Fully immerse the building components to be protected in the prepared solution of polysilazane coating, ensuring that all parts can fully contact the coating. The soaking time depends on factors such as the material and size of the components, and may generally take several minutes to more than ten minutes.
After immersion coating, slowly remove the parts and place them in a well ventilated and clean place, allowing excess paint to naturally drip and dry to cure. During the process, be careful to avoid dust and other impurities from contaminating the coating surface.
Rolling coating construction:
Pour the polysilazane coating into a clean tray, dip the drum into the coating thoroughly, and then roll it on the surface of the building. The rolling direction of the drum should be consistent to avoid confusion and uneven coating. For large flat areas, a "W" - or "M" - shaped rolling path can be used, and then rolled flat in one direction to ensure uniform coating. Multiple rolling coatings can also be applied to increase the coating thickness, with appropriate intervals between each rolling coating.
Curing treatment
Room temperature curing: After the construction is completed, the polysilazane coating can be naturally cured at room temperature, which usually takes more than 7 days. During this period, the environment should be kept dry and ventilated to avoid contact with impurities such as water and dust, ensuring a smooth curing process and gradually achieving the best coating performance.
Moisture curing (specific condition curing): If the construction environment has the corresponding conditions, moisture curing can also be used, such as curing for about 2 hours in an environment with a humidity of 90% and a temperature of 150 ℃. However, this method requires relatively high equipment and environmental requirements, and requires curing equipment that can accurately control temperature and humidity, such as industrial temperature and humidity controlled curing boxes.
