May 2025 – Anhui Iota Silicone Oil Co., Ltd. officially releases IOTA 9120, an organoborosilazane liquid precursor polymer with repeating Si-N and Si-N-B units. This dual-functional material serves as both thermosetting resin and ceramic precursor, enabling the synthesis of high-performance SiBCN ceramics under mild pyrolysis conditions, marking a breakthrough in high-temperature resistant materials.
IOTA 9120 offers versatile curing pathways: cross-linking at 120-180℃ in air or inert atmosphere, or hydrosilylation at 80-100℃ with platinum catalysts, requiring only 2-5 hours for curing. Its cured product converts to amorphous ceramic below 1600℃ and crystalline ceramic above 1600℃. Pyrolysis atmosphere tailors the composition: SiC/Si₃N₄ under N₂/Ar, Si₃N₄ with NH₃, and SiBOCN in air. With >50% ceramic yield at 800℃ and density of 1.70-2.00 g/cm³, it delivers exceptional thermal stability.
Featuring pale yellow liquid appearance, 99.9% solid content, molecular weight 700-900, and viscosity 10000-20000 cp, IOTA 9120 exhibits strong adhesion to metals, ceramics, and graphite, facilitating SiBCN ceramic fabrication. It targets applications in ceramic matrix composites (CMCs), metal matrix composites, high-temperature adhesives, anti-corrosion coatings, and ceramic preform impregnation, ideal for aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
Packaged in 0.5-20L sealed plastic drums, it has a 6-month shelf life unopened and over 2 months when sealed and stored at low temperature after opening. Avoid water, alcohols, and acids/bases during use; clean tools with acetone or solvent oil. Anhui Iota’s IOTA 9120 strengthens its leadership in organosilicon ceramic precursors, driving high-temperature materials toward efficiency and versatility.
