Recently, an innovative material named Organic Polyborosilazane IOTA 9120 has officially made its debut in the market, injecting new vitality into the field of ceramic precursor materials with its unique chemical composition and outstanding performance.
IOTA 9120 is a liquid precursor polymer composed of repeating Si-N units and Si-N-B units. It can be used both as a thermosetting resin and, under mild conditions, can be pyrolyzed to yield SiBCN ceramic products with excellent temperature resistance. This material features low viscosity, short curing time, diverse curing methods, high ceramic yield, and excellent adhesion to metals, ceramics, graphite, and more, facilitating the preparation of SiBCN ceramics.
In terms of technical parameters, IOTA 9120 presents as a light yellow liquid with a solid content of up to 99.9%, a molecular weight ranging from 700 to 900, and a viscosity of 10000-20000 cp. The ceramic yield of its cured product exceeds 50% at 800°C, with a ceramic density of 1.70-2.00 g/cm³.
Regarding applications, IOTA 9120 is widely suitable for ceramic matrix composites, metal matrix composites, high-temperature adhesives, anti-corrosion coatings, and more. Packaging-wise, it is sealed in 0.5-20 liter plastic buckets according to customer needs, with a solid content of up to 99.99%.
However, IOTA 9120 is sensitive to water and alcohol solvents and should avoid contact with protonic substances like acids and bases. When using it, necessary protective measures should be taken in a well-ventilated and dry environment. In terms of storage period, unopened IOTA 9120 has a shelf life of six months, while opened products' applicability period is influenced by protective measures, lasting over two months under sealed, low-temperature, and dry conditions.
