New Organic Polysilazane IOTA 9150K Launched to Advance Ambient Curing Coatings

A new liquid organic polysilazane, IOTA 9150K, has recently been launched for high-performance ambient curing coating systems. Designed with a Si-NH-Si backbone, this innovative material offers low viscosity, fast surface drying, excellent adhesion, and superior oxidation resistance, making it ideal for use in coatings, adhesives, flame-retardant composites, and polymer matrix applications.

IOTA 9150K cures at room temperature through hydrolysis and oxidation of Si-NH-Si bonds, forming strong adhesion with substrates such as metals, glass, and plastics. With the addition of catalysts, the curing process can be accelerated, enhancing both hardness and mechanical properties through a cross-linked 3D network structure. The cured film is non-flammable, hydrophobic (contact angle: 100°–105°), and provides excellent barrier properties against oxygen, water vapor, and other gases.

With a viscosity as low as 10–40 cP, IOTA 9150K supports various application methods including spraying, dipping, and brushing. Due to its high reactivity, the commercial version is typically supplied at 50% concentration, allowing users to customize formulations by adding appropriate solvents. The product also demonstrates outstanding optical transparency (>95% visible light transmittance) and low linear shrinkage (<1%), meeting stringent technical requirements for precision coatings.

IOTA 9150K is already gaining traction in industries such as electronics, automotive, and aerospace. It is available in packaging sizes ranging from 100 mL to 5 L, catering to both lab-scale research and industrial production needs.
