A new organosilazane polymer, IOTA 9118 (also known as a ceramifiable polymer precursor), has recently been launched, offering innovative solutions for high-temperature coatings, adhesives, and composite materials. This liquid polymer features a low viscosity, excellent adhesion, and superior thermal resistance, making it suitable for application on various substrates including metals, glass, and plastics.
IOTA 9118 contains vinyl functional groups and can be cured via multiple methods, including thermal and UV curing, providing flexibility in manufacturing processes. The resulting cured films demonstrate strong oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and hydrophobicity, maintaining structural integrity even under extreme temperatures. With proper formulation, the material can be converted into high-performance ceramics, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1600°C, making it ideal for use in aerospace, automotive, and electronics industries.
In addition, IOTA 9118 is easy to apply using techniques such as spraying or dipping, and it cleans up easily with solvents like acetone before curing. The product offers excellent storage stability, with a shelf life of one year when kept sealed under recommended conditions.
As demand grows for advanced materials that perform reliably under harsh conditions, IOTA 9118 is set to become a key component in driving innovation across multiple high-tech sectors.
