Hardness and wear resistance: The light curing speed is fast, and a structure with high cross-linking density can be formed in a short period of time, which rapidly increases the hardness of the coating and thus has good wear resistance. For example, UV cured acrylic resin coatings quickly cure after exposure to light, and their surface hardness can meet some high wear resistance requirements, such as the coating of electronic product casings, furniture surfaces, etc.
Chemical resistance: The cross-linked structure formed by UV curing also helps to enhance the chemical resistance of coatings. However, due to the relatively rapid UV curing process, there may be some partially unreacted functional groups. Compared with some thermosetting coatings, their chemical resistance may be slightly weaker under extreme conditions, but they still have good resistance to most chemicals in conventional use environments and are widely used in daily necessities, packaging materials, and other fields.
Adhesion: The adhesion of light cured coatings is related to the compatibility of the substrate, as well as the properties of the photoinitiator and resin itself. If the substrate is well pre treated and a suitable photopolymerization system is selected, the coating can achieve good adhesion. For example, in the application of wood paint, after appropriate polishing, primer coating and other treatments on the surface of wood, photopolymerization wood paint can firmly adhere to wood.
Flexibility: The flexibility of light cured coatings is greatly affected by resin formulations. Some formulations designed to improve curing speed may result in poor flexibility, but by adding flexible monomers, modifying resins, and other means, the flexibility of the coating can be improved while ensuring curing efficiency, meeting the requirements of applications such as plastic films and surface coating of soft materials that require flexibility.
